One of the games many splash screens upon loading the game’s home page. That is, except for one game in particular, and that is Granblue Fantasy. Since then, I’ve tried several other gacha games, like Fire Emblem Heroes, Dragalia Lost, and recently Fate/Grand Order (perhaps that could have it’s own post…?), and while I enjoyed those games for what they are, they just haven’t hit that sweet spot for me, to keep me playing for an extended period of time. Unfortunately, the phone I had at the time crapped out on me and I had no way of recovering my account.
I ended up playing the game for about six months, despite the game being only in Japanese.
Ultimately, I was convinced, and after stumbling through the Japanese menus, I found myself playing the game quite a bit! I’ll admit, I was not immune to cute idols.

However, that changed one night during a Skype call with some friends, one of which was a huge fan of the Idolmaster franchise. For that reason, I didn’t really bother to give them a try. To me the gacha model was another example of that.
At first, I balked at the mere mention of mobile games, as I saw them to be soulless cash grabs under the false impression of being free, throwing micro-transactions at the drop of a hat. My history with gacha games is, well, a strange one to say the least.
